This was one of our speed and sprint focused evening workouts. We did a good hour of dryland before getting in the pool and didn't "waste" any more time getting warmed up and went right into some fast swims from a dive . . .

How can I do this sets Easy Speed?
I believe that in another comment, the concept of “easy speed” was already explained. In this workout we were using fins and paddles to help the athletes with the easy part as this was still early in the season. However the concept stays the same – they should swim as fast as possible without getting in a lactate peak state where they can no longer finish their 50’s with great technique. What changed in this particular session is the “high” number of repeats on short rest.
What begin the workouts fast what effect Physiology?
I like to start out workouts with fast swims from a dive. The athletes really need to get their heads straight to do this right and their nervous system needs to be “firing” from the start. Good way to keep people sharp.
