Prior to COVID, I was a paper notebook/whiteboard coach. I was forced to switch to an online option so I could print copies for everyone, so I took to writing a blurb at the top (that usually went unread).

For our first meet of the new season we went back to the pool in Aarau where it all ended for us in the summer at Swiss Junior Nationals joining the local SC Aarefisch for their team champs.
Pre-meet recovery focused Friday evening workout mixing some relaxed swimming and kicking.
Aerobic focused workout for the Junior team including some fly work but mainly focusing on freestyle during this morning’s session.
Week 2 post-COVID restrictions. I wanted to start digging into the details, so we did a big drill set that I wanted to see immediately pay off in the main set.
First morning practice of the new season for our student-athletes of the sports class with some fresh faces and a “guest” from a nearby club team. An aerobic and main stroke focused workout to kick-off their day.
During COVID we only got one hour of pool time on Saturdays, followed by one hour of dryland. We opted to go FAST to make the most of the time, so that’s the entire focus of this workout.
Sprint focused Wednesday evening workout for the National & Junior National groups. Today we were finally able to train indoors again, however, needed to split the team in two training groups with one starting in the pool while the other did some dryland first as we only had a single lane available for the practice.
This was the first day the swimmers were going to have dryland. In hindsight, I should have probably gone easier on them, but I really wanted to see what they had in them because they’d been impressing me all week.
Aerobic focused morning workout for the Junior team with the main goal of this session being a total of 16×200’s fly. As always the stroke focus can easily be adapted for back or breast specialists.
