Kicking off this week and last practice of the month with a quality lactate session. Little volume and lots of intensity for the National & Junior National groups this Monday evening.
Third Saturday morning “meet simulation” practice providing an opportunity for fast swimming to the athletes of our National & Junior National groups.
We do this set at least once a month with our senior kids, and with a few pace time tweaks it’s easily applied to some of the younger groups as well. I’m basically always looking for quality distance sets that aren’t mind-numbing and tedious from the perspective of the athlete.
This week’s FriYAY guest workout continues the aerobic recovery for the National & Junior National groups with a kicking technique focused “main set” as the athletes are getting ready for another Saturday morning racing practice.
This Thursday was an overall aerobic and recovery focused day of training. The morning session for the student-athletes of the sports class included mainly aerobic cruise sets alternating with a mix of kick, pull, and drills.
Wednesday evening practice for the National & Junior National groups including a 200 lactate set as well as an overspeed “bonus” swim.
Overall aerobic and kicking focused day of training aiming to aid with recovery between our lactate practices. This Tuesday morning for the student-athletes of the sports class included basic low-end aerobic work mixing kicking, pulling, and drills.

Starting this new week and “celebrating” back to school following the holidays with a lactate set for our athletes. Not much warm-up or swim down this Monday evening as we’ll be doing our recovery during tomorrow’s practice(s).
Another kicking focused Saturday morning practice for the National & Junior National groups to close out their week of training with some active (aerobic) recovery.
