This set was designed to be a big challenge for some of my 14-16 year old boys. The intervals in the middle of the set (115, 110, 105) are normal intervals for us; but the 1:00 and :55 interval is a step we have not taken.

Great way to train the IM. I am stealing this main series from Bob Bowman, who did either this exact set or something close with his athletes circa late 1990s-2004. Not sure about the intervals he used.

Many athletes in my training group had just completed their Senior Spring Championship meet on March 2, while others are in preparation mode for their March 13 Age Group Championship meet.

Jan 29, 2014 – T2 Aquatics – Fartlek Practice
At T2 Aquatics we like to train with a mix of speeds. Wednesday AMs are generally devoted to this “Fartlek” style of training. With the large amount of “timed” fast swimming we tend to do, this type of training is a welcome break.
