This is a morning workout from the Fighting Manatee Masters in Islamorada. Instead of the rest intervals, I used fixed intervals for the sets of 100’s making it quite a challenging session.

The main set of this practice is a set I do roughly every two weeks or so and it is a teaching tool for my 12 and unders. I use the main set to teach how to train with intensity using their own 50 free times.

I’m a true believer in that swimmers have to do “work” to be successful. On the other hand, I don’t like doing boring sets that are painful to watch and not very motivating.

I hear coaches talking all the time about “cool” sets they do with their kids that are fun, but I have a hard time wanting to do them because they are sometimes too easy or I don’t really see a point in them.
