I am a firm believer morning swims are everything in swim meets and our swimmers know that the minute the jump in the water.
This is a great way to get a good amount of fast stroke swimming from your athletes! I like doing this type of work with my athletes. At times, I may ask for a smaller amount of longer distance repeats – so this type of set balances out the longer-repeat style of training that we use.
4,800 yard practice that is designed to work on your 100-200 yard stroke races by mixing in some mid-distance and sprint stroke elements.
I recently came back from the 2013 Arena Grand Prix Series at Orlando FL and also from a Last Chance Meet in Clearwater FL. After observing both of my Teams, I decided to pay more attention to the “details” in swimming. I call details to those very important aspects of fast swimming.
This set is designed for everyone to hit the maximum level of lactate! I think it is an opportunity for every swimmer to see what they are capable of doing and how much of a challenge they can assimilate.
This workout is a great way to train back-half speed with great stroke and no scrambling. I believe there’s a big difference in “sprinting” a 100 – to “see what you can do” and splitting a 100 Negative by 1.0-1.5 seconds.
This workout is meant for the athlete who has been doing a good job with their kicking and would like to mix it up a bit. You’ll get some good kicking in without getting into a 1200-1500 meter kicking set.
This morning was more of an aerobic technique with mixed pulling and some kicking drills. However, tonight we emphasized work on threshold.
Giving this workout is a great way to tax your group to the fullest without swimming a ton of long distance freestyle.
