This was a speed focused Monday with sprints in the morning and an anaerobic (aka lactate production) main set for our sprint and mid-distance athletes in the afternoon. Our “distance” specialists weren’t completely on the same plan and had a basic aerobic main part in the afternoon.

This is a recovery workout we did about one week out of Swiss SC Nationals. I like to swim fast in practice every day leading up to a big meet. I think it’s important for your body to keep the feeling for the race speed.

This workout was something we did with our sprinters to give them a feel of power in the water. We call it our “Boys with Toys” workout.

Two swim workouts from early in the year. This was an active recovery and speed focused Friday for us in Vevey. Some of the athletes were off from school that particular week and did doubles every day.

This is a full week of swim workouts. In our preparation leading up to the 2012 Swiss Short Course Nationals, we incorporate a "recovery" week every 4 weeks. This was the first one transitioning into more race pace focus swimming . . .

We keep working on our strokes and transitioning into higher pace efforts. The main set in the morning wasn’t long but I wanted them to keep moving for a while that’s the reason for integrating an active rest doing vertical or wall kicking.

The main set this Monday evening was just some regular aerobic-speed mix, finishing the workout with some fast swims from a dive.

This is a sprint workout from a few of my swimmers who did an extra session in the morning this Monday to kick off the new week. We mostly wanted to get some more close to race speed swims done and teach our bodies to be ready to compete in the morning.

I would consider this an aerobic recovery session. Don’t waste your time to look for something “special” in this workout. There are days where you just have to get the work done and stick to plain simple swimming.
