Kicking focused Saturday morning practice for the National & Junior National groups to close out this week of training with some active recovery – very basic and low intensity.
Aerobic and stroke focused FriYAY guest workout including some sprints for the National & Junior National groups. The goal was to have our athletes use “different” movements following plenty of freestyle during the first half of the week.
Overall recovery focused Thursday starting with a relaxed morning session for the student-athletes of the sports class including mostly low-end aerobic freestyle and breath control work.
Short rest aerobic focused Wednesday evening session for the National & Junior National groups. We took a little different approach this week with the sets of 50’s alternating “longer more intense” repeats with “shorter more relaxed” equipment repeats.
Tuesday morning practice for the student-athletes of the sports class was mainly an aerobic and kicking focused session starting with some sprints through the first two parts and including more short speed work during the last part.
This will be our last week of the 6-week aerobic cycle including this 3-week mini cycle focusing on “aerobic power” through short rest type of work. Our athletes showed great discipline and effort these last three Mondays with these sessions and thus there was some real progress.
Saturday morning “meet simulation” practice providing another opportunity for fast swimming for the athletes of our National & Junior National groups.
FriYAY guest and team practice for the National & Junior National groups including active recovery bridging the longer Thursday evening and upcoming fast Saturday morning workouts.
Overall aerobic focused Thursday for the National & Junior National squad athletes including options for our “event groups”. The distance crew really going long totalling 7k during this session.
Hump day providing another short rest aerobic focused evening practice for the National & Junior National groups. Our aim with these workouts is to keep the intensity low while increasing the “aerobic power”.
