Once a month I start with a set of ‘Challenge 50’s” which is a great way to determine threshold pace times for 800-1500 swimming and a great way to see training progression. The main set is a challenging set for distance swimmers. Alter the # of rounds to fit your needs.

This session was about hitting training zones in the warm-up to properly prepare for the main set. The main set was one of my standard versions that mixes best stroke with freestyle and medley.

I thought this was a great set to start to introduce some speed into the training. The Main set is an adaptation of a Bill Sweetenham set.

The main set is called “50’s 101”. I am sure many of you have tried this set before. For those that haven’t. It is as many 50’s as you can make on a pace time of 101 and always having to finish before your original send off.
