Tuesday started with a short wake-up swim early in the morning before their basic training input with the Army instructors. The afternoon was “off” and thus we were able to have a full session in the pool.

Tuesday started with a short wake-up swim early in the morning before their basic training input with the Army instructors. The afternoon was “off” and thus we were able to have a full session in the pool.
Week three for the athletes of Team Armee at BASPO in Magglingen starting with a morning workout as we got to switch training groups on this Monday with Swiss Short Course Nationals set to begin on Friday. All three athletes were doing a mix of aerobic including speed and sprint work.
This week’s Wednesday afternoon session included mostly aerobic and sprint work with a little bit of a breaststroke focus for our “distance” athlete.
Thursday was our second day in the pool including more aerobic and sprint work for all athletes and some of them were even doing short threshold type sets.
First week in Magglingen at BASPO for the new athletes joining the Team Armee. We weren’t able to train the first two days and were in the pool for the first time this Wednesday afternoon.
Sprint focused Tuesday session including resistance work to “accelerate and emphasize” the feel on the fast efforts. There were no intervals on the resisted and sprint 25’s – goal was to get the equipment off, shift focus, and get into a high quality sprint.
Resistance and sprint focused Friday workout including some aerobic elements for active recovery. Two repeats only on the sets of resistance work on short and sprint work on long rest.
Sprint focused Thursday workout providing two options with the overall intensity and volume slowly decreasing as we’re progressing in our preparation for Long Course Nationals.
Sprint focused Tuesday workout offering two options with small differences on the fast efforts while both keep things basic and use intervals that provide enough rest for high quality swimming.
This Friday session was offering a little bit of everything including more speed and sprint work also incorporating small aerobic elements for sort of a polarized training approach.
