This Monday afternoon session was our first practice of the week. We usually spend this workout “warming up” for the week.
This morning, our practice was designed for P200. It was expected from all our student athletes to come ready to go FAST in the morning.
This is another Wednesday afternoon workout with three different groups, all while keeping everyone focused on improving our low-end aerobic/stroke specific speed.
These are the workouts from day three of our training camp in Luxembourg. Building some speed during the warm-up for the short blasts during the main set and slowly increasing the amount of kicking.
Good solid warm-up with a focus on IM, specifically the cross-over turn. Pre-set is off the blocks to get some dive work in. Main-set today is broken swims.
Light warm-up today and longer than average pre-set. Main set today is 30×100. The butterfly inclined athletes will swim butterfly, everyone else will swim freestyle.
We went back to work after a three day meet today. We don’t have a lot of time left in the season, and my Senior training group needs to hit it pretty hard for the next two weeks.
Every Friday, the athletes swim a set called “Animal Kick”. It is 10×100’s HARD KICK. At the end of the set, I either want to know the athletes approximate average or their total time.
These are the workouts from day two of our training camp in Luxembourg. Some good “old fashioned” aerobic freestyle mixed with short speed work. They’ll also get to use quite a bit of fins and paddles to make the adaption to training long course easier.
The following is a chart I have developed for different broken swims. They go from the 50 to the 1650. There are many different ways to do broken swims. Find out which one your swimmers are most comfortable with.
