Today’s warm-up includes balance exercises, kicking to get the heart rate up and at the end some distance per stroke to get the most efficient stroke possible.

According to the feedback of my athletes that session may have been a little too hard. During the morning workouts, I usually try to stay within the “theme” of the week but make it a little more “fun” for the athletes.

This was our first pace focused workout after our one week “recovery” transition. I also wanted to take advantage of the long course setup and used some aerobic swims before the pace sets to help them set up their strokes for the faster swimming.

We have not been very good with our underwater kicking this fall, so in this practice, we focused on dolphin kicks off every wall.

We keep working on our strokes and transitioning into higher pace efforts. The main set in the morning wasn’t long but I wanted them to keep moving for a while that’s the reason for integrating an active rest doing vertical or wall kicking.

The main set this Monday evening was just some regular aerobic-speed mix, finishing the workout with some fast swims from a dive.

It is a short warm-up in the water because it was a good activation on land. This is one of my favorite series, especially for butterflyer. The series is done as 100 with 75 fast and 25 easy on 1’45 from push.
