Shorter aerobic recovery focused Friday evening session for the National & Junior National group athletes at home including kicking, pulling and breath control work. F
Single session Thursday with a sprint focused evening practice for the National & Junior National group athletes continuing their preparation at home towards their “peak meets”.
Mid-week evening workout including another short lactate set as well as an “overspeed” effort for the National & Junior National group athletes continuing their preparation towards Team Nationals or other upcoming “peak meets” of this training cycle.
Overall aerobic and recovery focused day of training for the National & Junior National groups. The morning practice for the student-athletes of the sports class was my last session of this week as I was at Long Course Nationals with our two qualified athletes.
Kicking off this week with a fast Monday evening practice for most athletes of the National & Junior National groups. The workout included a lactate set as well as an “overspeed” effort and was cut short at the end as we run out of time after the recovery block during the last part of the session.
Last Saturday morning “meet simulation” practice for the National & Junior National groups on our way towards the different focus (championship) meets of this training cycle.
Aerobic recovery based Friday evening practice for the National & Junior National groups including plenty of equipment to keep intensity down.
Thursday morning session for the student-athletes of the sports class with an aerobic and sprint focused session to prepare for the second lactate practice of the week with the rest of the team in the evening.
Hump day recovery evening practice for the National & Junior National groups including mostly relaxed aerobic work and starting “the taper phase” for the athletes getting ready to compete at Long Course Nationals.
This week “looks & feels” similar to the last and thus the student-athletes of the sports class started their Tuesday morning with an aerobic and sprint focused session to prepare for the lactate practice with the rest of the team in the evening.
