Hump day practice during this active recovery training week included more relaxed aerobic and sprint work for the National & Junior National squads. We split up in two groups for the main chunk of work and finished the evening with a “team float”.
The student-athletes of the sports class starting their Tuesday with an aerobic focused morning session including some sprint work.
Active recovery training week for the National & Junior National groups starting with a little shorter Monday evening session including mostly longer relaxed aerobic work.
Closing out this week with a tough threshold focused Saturday morning session. Taking a little bit of a different approach preparing for the two main sets going through our “Point 0” and an activation part. Overall good efforts from the team today.
Friday evening with an aerobic and speed focused session for the National & Junior National groups providing “event and stroke based” options for a little more specific work following a first common part.
This week’s Thursday morning practice for the student-athletes of the sports class resembles the Tuesday session with more aerobic and short speed sets while also including some main stroke work.
After yesterday’s session, arms were sore. I wanted to make sure that the swimmers were relying more on their kick than their pull, so I wrote a workout that primed the legs before getting into the nuts and bolts of butterfly.
Mid-week aerobic and speed focused evening workout for the National & Junior National groups. After a first common part, we split up into our “event groups” for a little more specific work.
Since we did breaststroke all last week, this week we focused on butterfly. I always try to tackle group-wide issues within my practice plan, so for this workout I wanted the swimmers to focus on small kicks (low amplitude) and a more neutral arm recovery.
