This workout is centered around the 6×300 Free (410) at the end. Tom Yetter (Head Age Group Coach) will use the paces from this workout to determine training sets which we will consider to be Aerobic Threshold Sets.

Season at the Y – Week 11
For all the age group coaches out there I decided to post a seasons worth of workouts from a group I coached at the Y back in 2005-2006. The season consisted of 25 weeks and I was working with mostly beginners who were new to the sport of swimming . . .

05/27/2013 PM – Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center (Schroeder North – Group 3)
Two groups today. Long-sprinters and everyone else. A little bit of under water work for the main set with some 200 add-up work.
Jun 16, 2013 – T2 Aquatics – Age Group Workout
This Sunday morning I had the opportunity to coach the 12 and unders. I had about fifteen 11-12s and ten 10 and Unders. We went SCY. My main goal was to work some fly drills with them.
T2 Aquatics – Freestyle Descending Set
The athletes I had do this workout are male High School athletes, who have been 409-418 400 Free; and 16:35-17:30 1500 Free.
We have been getting after some LCM descending sets recently — as well as some other LCM Threshold-type sets that basically have been centered around repeating on (115) and (110) for LCM 100s.
We do this sort of work 2 times per week freestlye, and 1x per week IM — and balance it with a strong Backstroke “Threshold” set each week, plus 2-3 active rest sets each week (we work all strokes on Active Rest sets).
Fall 2012 – Winter 2013 Season at WSAC – Week #43

T2 Aquatics – Younger Age Groupers Capacity “Team” Set
Our T2 Aquatics age group squads do a great job mixing their style of training. We do a number of things:
- we train the athlete’s technique,
- we train their ability to swim well technically at pace,
- we train the athlete’s kicking ability,
- and we train the athletes to improve their aerobic capacity.
The following practice was geared toward the improvement of our athlete’s aerobic capacity, and in addition — was geared toward developing their mental strength to deal with discomfort during practice.
NTC Aquatics – Morning Speed
We wanted to emphasize some of the work done the night before, this morning. Our compliment was to work on some speed this morning just to get the group ready for great morning swims in championship kids of events.
However, our last set was directed to get some pace done for 200 races. Some of my impressions with this group is how we lack some closing speed in our races. We need to fix that issue and here is one way to achieve that task.
