Aerobic focused Wednesday morning workout with a twist of speed work from the Lancy Natation Elite group.
We train for great 100/200 flys in a variety of ways. This workout provided the athletes with an opportunity to swim a significant amount of fly, one 50 at a time – with intervals that challenge and train the athlete’s fitness level.
Tuesday workouts from the Lancy Natation Elite group. Both sessions included quality low-end aerobic work mixed with short speed and pace sets.
Our age groupers have gone through quite a big aerobic base work phase the past weeks – it’s now time to start to give them speed.
This Saturday morning workout continued the theme of the Thursday evening practice while also adding some short “lactate” swims to the mix.
This Thursday evening workout focused on holding pace or close to race speeds, teaching your body to handle stress. With the work we had already done this week, the workout ended up being harder on the athletes than I thought.
These are two workouts from the Lancy Natation butterfly group. Their time in the morning was limited and aimed to set up the stroke for the afternoon session.
Saturday morning race style workout from the Elite group in Vevey. This was a mix of longer pace and short lactate swims. The goal was to work on closing speed with the pace sets “breaking” their stroke before the all out swims.
There are a few key items to consider with this practice: first, at T2 Aquatics most athletes stay fairly light with the weight they pull on the buckets.
This practice was swum by a few of our 100/200M Olympic Trial athletes at a Mid-May training session.
