Solid aerobic work with a little quality thrown in. Some short burst efforts are in the mix to keep the boys sharp, but we focus on good aerobic efforts.

We were essentially in an "overtraining" microcycle, which for this age group meant we were just trying to go on slightly faster pace times, change equipment more quickly between sets, and avoid long breaks between activities . . .

Saturday workout with a Sprint and Distance option. Not a big day yardage wise, but just some good quality efforts.
Apr 28, 2018 – Campbell River Killer Whales
We continued with a previous focus of rotation and pull efficiency – pulling the principles forward through the breaststroke set by holding a tight streamline through the repeated kicks with the intention of emphasizing forward motion.

Saturday morning kicking focused workout to close out the week. Overall not a lot of volume or too much intensity in this session but a solid 2k main set working the legs . . .

This is a set I provided to my swimmers to address the problem of not finishing their strokes. I actually wrote this initially for my Masters team, but used it again for my “12 & Unders” because – unsurprisingly – they were having similar issues.
