Season at the Y – Week 4
For all the age group coaches out there I decided to post a seasons worth of workouts from a group I coached at the Y back in 2005-2006. The season consisted of 25 weeks and I was working with mostly beginners who were new to the sport of swimming . . .

Feb 5, 2013 – Vevey Natation
As we start to swim hard and fast almost everyday, I wanted to get some aerobic work done without adding more stress to the upper body or swim with improper technique for a long time due to fatigue.
Nov 23, 2012 – T2 Aquatics – Active Rest Stroke Set
This is a great way to get a good amount of fast stroke swimming from your athletes! I like doing this type of work with my athletes. At times, I may ask for a smaller amount of longer distance repeats – so this type of set balances out the longer-repeat style of training that we use.
PSU Club Swim – Sprint Stroke
4,800 yard practice that is designed to work on your 100-200 yard stroke races by mixing in some mid-distance and sprint stroke elements.
Feb 4, 2013 – Vevey Natation
Monday afternoon pool workout following an hour long dryland session. There wasn’t a lot of warm-up or swim down that day … we pretty much focused on setting up our speeds for the rest of the week.
Feb 1, 2013 – Vevey Natation
Three swim workouts from a Friday evening with a focus on fast swimming. Our Senior athletes worked in two groups, both using the same “system” for their workout. The Junior group had a “taper” workout.
