Back in the pool almost a week after my last swim and thus I decided on mostly relaxed low-end aerobic work including lots of sculling and some butterfly towards the end.
The pool was quite crowded this Thursday morning and therefore decided to jump into the long course lanes, hold onto my fins, and alternate longer relaxed swimming with shorter sets of 50’s.
I had more time on hand for my swim this Tuesday morning and with the steady increase of fly work last week decided to double down and focus on butterfly today.
Sunday morning at the pool to get a third swim and end this week. Keeping with the theme of longer relaxed swims mixed with short butterfly sets of 25’s and today including some kicking.
A high intensity session for sprinters, IM’ers and stroke specialists. Warm-up is pretty straightforward. Strong kicking in the warm-up set, a little build of intensity to prime everyone for the main sets.
Mixing some longer swims with shorter sets of 25’s this Thursday afternoon and again including a bit of a longer butterfly set.
In the main set, we move to the deep end – you’ll see why. And the main sets are tough. Fast swimming, with some crunches or push-ups breaking up the effort. Not a lot of rest.
Having more consistency in my training again, I was looking to integrate a little more butterfly work into my sessions. All in all a rather simple aerobic workout.
Another IM focus day. The fast efforts need to be absolutely sprint efforts. Good breakouts – no dogging it!
Getting another session in this week with a “late” Sunday afternoon swim right before the pool closing. More longer relaxed swimming to get back into the swing of things, however, including more variation being back in short course today.
