Apr 26, 2024 – Podium Swimming – Team & Strength Building
In the main set, we move to the deep end – you’ll see why. And the main sets are tough. Fast swimming, with some crunches or push-ups breaking up the effort. Not a lot of rest.

Having more consistency in my training again, I was looking to integrate a little more butterfly work into my sessions. All in all a rather simple aerobic workout.
Another IM focus day. The fast efforts need to be absolutely sprint efforts. Good breakouts – no dogging it!
Getting another session in this week with a “late” Sunday afternoon swim right before the pool closing. More longer relaxed swimming to get back into the swing of things, however, including more variation being back in short course today.
Long course session for the IM team – working on form and speed. For the 200’s in the main set fins are helpful here but you could do without – just extend the send-off. But it’s all fly!
Back in the pool following a week-long hiatus. It was quite the busy Saturday and also “only” long course available for lap swimmers. Therefore I decided on a mix of longer swims and short set of 50’s.
Going threshold today. Really pushing things when fatigue is setting in and lactic acid is building up. This can’t be a continuous swim but no break between anything in the main set – continuous from top to bottom.
Friday pre-lunch swim going back to the short course pool and a bit more varied aerobic work including some butterfly.
A good longer set today for the distance team. Aerobic at the beginning and moving to threshold at the end. Really focusing on endurance and end of race stamina.
Working on stroke work with good aerobic sets today. The warm-up is straight forward, with the 3 rounds starting to set the tone. We’re working off a base 100 time of approximately 1:10-1:15 here.
