Aerobic focused evening session for the Junior team including more hard butterfly work.
The goal of this Friday evening workout for our National & Junior National groups was recovery with the focus in the pool set on kicking and breath control.
This was a double whammy of bad news. First, in my daily blurb I told the swimmers we’d be doing a lot of breaststroke the following week. My national-level breaststrokers were stoked, but everyone else was upset.
Following a similar plan like we did on Tuesday morning with aerobic and stroke focused work for the student-athletes this Thursday. Again keeping the intensity low as they will have another fast evening session with the rest of the team in the evening.
This was designed to be a continuation of the previous day’s lesson on efficiency (stroke counts, underwaters, etc). I also wanted to give the swimmers a chance for some part practice, hence the kick/pull set.
Aerobic and stroke focused Tuesday morning workout for the student-athletes of our sports class. Keeping the intensity low as they will join the rest of the team for a fast evening session.
Shorter and relaxed Monday evening session in the pool for the National & Junior National groups with a mix of low-end aerobic swimming and kicking following some dryland.
Aerobic focused day of training for the Junior team with both sessions including some tough butterfly work.
Prior to COVID, I was a paper notebook/whiteboard coach. I was forced to switch to an online option so I could print copies for everyone, so I took to writing a blurb at the top (that usually went unread).
For our first meet of the new season we went back to the pool in Aarau where it all ended for us in the summer at Swiss Junior Nationals joining the local SC Aarefisch for their team champs.
