Stats & Memberships Report: May 2018

May was an interesting month providing the opportunity to mix with college coaches at the CSCAA Convention in Evanston (IL), re-visit with Coach Alexis Keto at New Trier Aquatics, tour the OTC in Colorado Springs, and much more!

While in Colorado Springs, we also got to witness the Discovery Canyon Boys High School Team win the 2018 PPAC Championships during the second day of finals at the Cheyenne Mountain Aquatic Center. Unfortunately, the Thunders’ run at the 4A State Championship just about two weeks later was shook up by a suit violation, having them finish 2nd by 8 points.

Congratulations to Coach Dave Burgess, his staff, and all the athletes on a fantastic season!

Don’t forget that all of the workouts from the Discovery Canyon Boys Team leading to this year’s success are available in our archives (start at Day 1)!

The last stop on this month’s whirlwind trip brought us to Long Island (NY) and on deck with Coach Mike Murray and Marc Danin from Islanders Aquatics at Suffolk Community College.

Aside from a lot of sharing and talking swimming, Coach Mike also mentioned to Coach Nico how he likes to read these monthly reports and look at some of the statistics we provide. We certainly try to do our best to keep an eye on these metrics, however, numbers and statistics aren’t PSW’s “lifeline”.

Because growth and progress is one of our ambition for the platform, the discussion did spark our own interest and we thought to give you a little more insight than usual this month.

PSW Stats May 2018

The graph above is what we usually share from our Google Analytics dashboard, showing the daily number of pageviews over the course of the month. A pageview occurs when a user who is on our website views one of the posts or pages during a session (total pageviews include repeat views of post and pages from a same user). We mainly choose this measurement over any other because we think it’s the best indicator of what’s happening on PSW each month – May saw a total of 18’987 pageviews.

PSW Stats May 2018 (Input Users)Some may argue that users would be a better indicator. Users are visitors who land on our platform (they can either be returning or new/unique).

However, since we’re not trying to sell advertisement and are already targeting a “niche audience”, we don’t see the number of visitors as a good indicator for PSW’s success. Certainly these measurements show us how many people are coming to our website and hopefully the activity will keep growing over time. But rest assured – we will keep at it! Even if we could be on our own one day as was the case in 2011 when it all started.
